Chapter 20
Late-Night Talk
The conversation that bends time.
Summary
The friend group's longest purely verbal chapter, and one of the most mechanically important despite having no skill check. Stacy, Slater and Cassandra settle somewhere quiet — a parking lot or rooftop — and talk for roughly ten minutes about leaving, staying, and who will write to whom once the summer ends. What makes the chapter pivotal is its dialogue branching, the heaviest in the game: there are multiple decision points (the sharpest clustering around the blunt question of whether Stacy is actually moving), and your responses quietly accumulate as ending-route signals. Leaning your answers toward Slater, toward Cassandra, or toward introspection is exactly how the game tracks which ending you are steering for. The practical guidance depends on your goal: for the True Ending, deliberately balance responses across all three friends rather than favoring one; for a specific character's ending, lean consistently toward that friend, or stay introspective if you are aiming for Stacy's own ending. The chapter ends when the group breaks for the next stretch of the night.
